Mission

Diverse Communities Co-operative Limited exists to relieve poverty and address housing insecurity by providing high-quality, affordable housing below market rates and, where feasible, at cost to individuals and families experiencing low income, economic hardship, or other vulnerabilities. We place particular emphasis on supporting newcomers to Canada and refugees, ensuring they have access to stable, dignified housing that fosters integration and wellbeing.

As a member-owned nonprofit co-operative, we are committed to democratic governance, mutual aid, and community empowerment. All renters are members, participating in and contributing to the direction of the co-op. We operate without the purpose of gain, reinvesting all resources into achieving our social mission, maintaining financial sustainability, and upholding the principles of equity, inclusion, and solidarity.

Through collective ownership and self-governance, we aim to build resilient, inclusive neighbourhoods where every member has a voice, and every home is a foundation for belonging and opportunity.

Our mission is to relieve poverty and help build better futures by offering affordable, below-market housing to individuals and families in need — especially newcomers to Canada and refugees starting over in a new land.
